Athletic & Sport Massage
Sports massage is a specifically therapeutic technique that meets the needs of athletes. This particular massage is aimed at releasing specific tensions and preparing the body for a given activity. Communication between the therapist and the client is essential, since the latter probably has a very precise idea of the effects sought by the massage.
Sports massage techniques come mainly from Swedish massage and kinesitherapy. This massage is performed in depth and includes a range of techniques such as myofacial release, trigger points, intramuscular massage, passive mobilizations, stretching, lymphatic drainage and pumping. In addition to the treatment, sports massage therapists sometimes also use therapeutic adhesive bandages (taping).
Sports massage is naturally intended for athletes, but not only for professional athletes; anyone who does physical activity on a regular basis will benefit such care. Used both in preparation for training and recovery, sports massage is the ideal ally for pampering a hard-working body. The massage aims to preserve the mobility and flexibility of the joints, as well as relieve musculo-articular pain related to training.
The sports massage therapist has been trained on sport-related pathologies, which enables him to intervene in the prevention and rehabilitation of muscular injuries.
Before the effort, the massage prepares the muscles to perform while avoiding injuries. After the effort, it prevents aches and relaxes the muscles, allowing the body to relax for better recovery. Massage can also be performed during an activity or a competition, when the athlete is taking a break and the therapist is allowed to work on a cramp or aches resulting from the effort and muscular fatigue.
